Ruben is an accomplished workplace lawyer with 30 years of experience in the human resources field. During this time, his direct interaction with business owners and decision makers made it abundantly clear to him that he is really retained to solve business issues - helping clients capitalize on business opportunities that have human resource legal implications.
His legal work is management focused, representing employers on all workplace legal issues including employment litigation, labour law, occupational health and safety, and human rights. Ruben has successfully positioned himself as a senior advisor to his clients in all aspects of workplace law. He is regularly involved in risk analysis, strategic planning and conflict resolution, and is as comfortable in a court room or at a labour relations tribunal, as he is in the board room or on the shop floor.
In the Lexpert Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada for years 2013 to 2021, Ruben has ranked as a lawyer of choice.
Ruben has been devoted to various causes in his community over the course of his career. He served for 18 years as the Corporate Secretary to the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, and before that the board of the Mississauga Symphonic Association. He has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of Heart House Hospice, supporting palliative care in the Region of Peel. He is also called upon as a regular speaker with the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Ontario. Ruben is fluent in Portuguese.
